
JAKARTA, June 12 (UPI) -- An Indonesian Air Force Puma helicopter crashed Friday into an air base, killing two people and injuring five others, a spokesman for the Air Force said.
The spokesman, Commodore Bambang Soelistyo, said the helicopter crashed into the Atang Sendjaya air base in Bogor during a test flight Friday, killing passengers identified as Chief Sgt. Catur and First Sgt. Dodi, Antara reported Friday.
Injured in the crash were servicemen identified as Maj. Sobiq Fanani, 1st Lt. Wisnu, 2nd Lt. Ronny, Chief Sgt. Efran and Chief Sgt. Ferdinand. Sobiq Fanani was piloting the helicopter with Wisnu assisting, Soelistyo said.
Commodore I Wayan Suwitra said the passengers of the helicopter headed the Air Force's flight and work safety division.
Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla suggested increasing the military budget to prevent future accidents, Xinhua, China's government-run news agency, reported.
"I want to extend my condolences because several days ago a Hercules military cargo plane crashed in East Java and a military helicopter also crashed in West Java," he said.
