ROSWELL, N.M., June 11 (UPI) -- Two wildfires in southern New Mexico consumed about 30,000 acres as of Thursday, officials reported.

The 18,000-acre Cato fire, in remote Chavez County east of Roswell, was reported about 60 percent contained. No homes were reported threatened and no evacuations had been ordered, authorities told the Albuquerque Journal.

The 12,000-acre Pasco fire, burning grass and brush on privately owned ranchland in Hidalgo County south of Lordsburg, posed a threat to one home, which was evacuated.
