PHILADELPHIA, June 10 (UPI) -- A car being pursued by police slammed into a group of pedestrians in a Philadelphia neighborhood Wednesday night, killing three children, police said.
All of the children were under the age of 10. A woman in her 20s, the mother of one of the children, was critically injured, as well, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Police said the chase started after two armed men stole motorcycle, with one riding off on the bike and the other driving away in a car. Within minutes, police spotted the car and gave chase. The car jumped a curb, striking the pedestrians, the Inquirer said.
Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said a suspect was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
