SOUTHLAKE, Texas, June 9 (UPI) -- Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who told prosecutors he was nearly broke, has moved into a rented $1 million mansion in Southlake, Texas, neighbors say.
Lawyers for Kilpatrick, who resigned as Detroit's mayor last year after his conviction on political corruption charges, had told prosecutors he had only $6 per month left after expenses. But residents in the wealthy Dallas suburb told Tuesday's Detroit News that Kilpatrick has moved into five-bedroom, 5,886-square-foot custom-built home.
