PEWAUKEE, Wis., June 9 (UPI) -- A female police sergeant in a Milwaukee-area town allegedly called a male drug suspect she thought was "hot," the police chief says.
Cher Sneider, an officer in the Pewaukee Police Department, allegedly got one of her colleagues to retrieve the man's telephone number from a database, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Acting Police Chief Daniel Meister, who has asked for her dismissal, said she then called the man at least four times, using her personal cell phone, and went to his address once because she hoped to go out with him.
At the time, the police department was investigating the man, identified only as John Doe.
Sneider denies any wrongdoing, her lawyer, Jennifer Dorow, said. She said Sneider has an outstanding record, including a medal for a rescue from a burning house.
"When all is said and done, you have an officer with a history of exceptional service. Seeking to fire her is ridiculous," Dorow said.
Sneider has also been disciplined four times during her career, the Journal Sentinel said, including a one-day suspension for unprofessional conduct. She also testified on behalf of former Police Chief Gary Bach, who was ousted last year, saying there was a conspiracy to get rid of him.
