The victim, Frank McGarahan, 45, of Much Hadham, Herefordshire, was in Norwich for a family christening in September. McGarahan, his brother and cousin, during a night out, spotted a group of young men beating up another man.

McGarahan was beaten unconscious and died a few days alter of head injuries.

The prosecutor said McGarahan and his relatives "bravely intervened when many others would have stepped back."

The Cowles brothers face prison terms when they are sentenced. The Times of London described them as amateur boxers.

McGarahan, who had two children, worked in a unit at Barclays Bank that handles the finances of the very rich.
