TIJUANA, Mexico, June 7 (UPI) -- Mexican forensic investigators were trying to determine if two severed heads found in Tijuana match two headless bodies found elsewhere, officials say.
The heads were found at 5 a.m. Saturday in eastern Tijuana while the charred headless bodies were discovered later in the day along the Tijuana-Rosarito Beach toll highway, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Officials said they were waiting for DNA evidence to figure out if the heads and bodies matched up.
The newspaper said a written message found with the heads called the victims "ratas," which is slang for thieves. Officials said that suggested they might have been killed for stealing drugs from a criminal gang.
