ATHENS, Greece, June 4 (UPI) -- Greek vandals pelted a police station and three banks in Athens with explosive devices, causing considerable damage but no injuries, police said Thursday.

About 10 assailants damaged six cars overnight when they threw petrol bombs at the police station in the Melisia suburb in northern Athens, the Greek ANA news agency said.

The vandals ran away after police officers fired in the air and tossed flash-bang grenades in warning.

The Athens offices of three banks, Millennium, Alpha and Aspis were attacked by home-made explosive devices which caused serious damage.

An anti-terrorist police team is investigating the attack on the police station.
