LUCASVILLE, Ohio, June 2 (UPI) -- An Ohio man who killed a woman by locking her in the trunk of her car and setting it ablaze is just hours away from his scheduled execution, officials say.
Daniel Wilson, 39, was transported Tuesday from the state prison in Youngstown to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville where he is to die by lethal injection at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Prisons spokeswoman Andrea Carson told The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer Wilson was calm and made the trip without incident. He was to have visitors until early evening and have a last meal that was to include a steak, baked potato, vegetables, grapes, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls, chips and salsa, ice cream, cheesecake, and soda, the newspaper said.
Wilson, who was sentenced to death for the May 4, 1991, death of Carol Lutz, 24, was sent to the death house after Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland denied his plea for clemency Monday.
Lutz's parents and brother are expected to be among the witnesses to Wilson's execution, along with a cousin, friend and attorney of Wilson's.
