Reagan statue to be unveiled

WASHINGTON, May 29 (UPI) -- U.S. House and Senate party leaders, usually at odds in Congress, will jointly unveil a statue of former President Ronald Reagan in the Capital Rotunda.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky will head the congressional delegation at the dedication Wednesday, Pelosi's office said Friday in a news release.

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan also is scheduled to attend the unveiling.

The two-term Republican president died June 5, 2004.

The Reagan statue will become part of the National Statuary Hall Collection of statues donated by individual states to honor notable men and women in each state's history, the Democratic leader's office said.
