TEHRAN, May 29 (UPI) -- Gunmen fired on a campaign office of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Friday, wounding two adults and a child, officials said.

CNN reported the shooting occurred about 5 p.m. in front of the entrance to Ahmadinejad's campaign office, spokesman Mohammed Reza Zahed Shaikhi told the state-run IRNA news service.

Ahmadinejad, who is running for a second term, was not at the office.

The gunmen were arrested by police as they tried to escape, the BBC reported.
