MIAMI, May 28 (UPI) -- A child welfare judge in Miami says an affair between a 15-year-old boy in Hialeah, Fla., and his religious school teacher must end.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman put an end to a months-long affair between the teenager, whose identity was not reported, and Our Lady of Charity teacher Maria Guzman Hernandez, 32, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Hernandez, a sixth-grade teacher, allegedly admitted to having a sexual relationship with the teen after being arrested Saturday on sexual battery on a child charges.

The teenager's mother, whose identity also was not reported, has been accused of consenting to the student-teacher affair, the Sun-Sentinel said.

State child welfare officials have urged the mother to undergo counseling. She also will face supervision from the Department of Children and Families.

Attorney Roberto Villasante, who represents the teen's mother, told the Sun-Sentinel his client insists she did not know of her son's alleged actions.

''She is in disagreement with some of the items in the affidavit,'' Villasante said, "particularly certain knowledge she had of what was going on.''
