SEATTLE, May 28 (UPI) -- Police are investigating complaints from a Seattle woman who says she was threatened online because of comments she made about the Amanda Knox case.

A Seattle Police Department report says the woman said the alleged threatener "is engaging in tactics meant to intimidate," along with "the tacit consent" of Knox's stepfather, Chris Mellas, Seattlepi.com reported Thursday.

The woman said she has received "veiled threats" and there have been attempts to disable a Web site dedicated to the homicide case in Perugia, Italy.

Knox, who is from Seattle, and her Italian ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, are currently standing trial in Perugia for the slaying of Meredith Kercher, a British college student.

Seattlepi.com reported that Seattle police Sgt. Mark Worstman confirmed that an investigation into the alleged cyber-harassment is still open.
