Czech court jails 2 men for Nazi salutes

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, May 26 (UPI) -- A Teplice court in western Czech Republic Tuesday sentenced two men to 18 months and six months in jail, respectively, for displaying Nazi symbols.

Jan Dufek and Petr Nikoluk were found guilty of giving a Nazi salute and shouting Nazi slogans during a birthday party in Duchcov, in northern Bohemia, several years ago.

A banner with a Nazi swastika could be seen on a video tape filmed at the party and shown in the court, the ceskenoviny.cz Web site said.

The two men, who told the court they were drunk at the party and did not want to promote Nazism, immediately submitted appeals to the sentences.

Dufek was also found guilty of buying and selling a machine-gun.

Zdenek Zboril, Czech political analyst specializing in extremist groups, told the court a tattoo on Dufek's body was an image of Hitler.
