Czech police arrest ultra-right protesters

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, May 25 (UPI) -- Czech police said they detained 42 supporters of an ultra-right party after a protest in Prague against public radio's refusal to air its commercial.

Police spokeswoman Eva Miklikova said they also arrested Tomas Vandas, the head of the extreme rightist Workers' Party, during clashes with about 60 demonstrators who tried to reach the Czech Radio building in downtown Prague Sunday.

The demonstrators protested against the radio's refusal to air the party's campaign ads, which reportedly included anti-Gypsy and other racist slogans, for the June 5-6 European Parliament elections, Prague Radio said Monday.

Another Czech far-right party said it will sue public television and radio stations for refusing to air its campaign ads.

The neo-Nazi Czech National Party Sunday said it will file suit with the Prague court and European Union to declare the European Parliament elections invalid.
