Bomb blows out Starbucks windows

NEW YORK, May 25 (UPI) -- No one was injured Monday when a bomb damaged a closed Starbucks coffee shop on New York's Upper East Side, police said.

The bomb, placed on a bench outside the store, blew out the shop's windows just before dawn at the corner of 92nd and 3rd avenue, said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Police were trying to determine if the bomb was linked to unsolved early morning blasts during the last two years outside the British Consulate, the Mexican Consulate and the Armed Forces recruiting booth in Times Square, Kelly said.

In those case, witnesses described, and surveillance cameras showed, a suspect riding away on a bicycle, WABC-TV, New York reported. Tapes from neighborhood security cameras had yet to be reviewed in Monday's blast, Kelly said.

"We will be checking cameras in the area. Right now there are no reports of anyone on a bicycle," Kelly said.
