ALBUQUERQUE, May 21 (UPI) -- Police in Albuquerque say they have arrested a 23-year-old woman who may be the mother of the dead child in the so-called Baby Angel case.
The Albuquerque Journal said Thursday that Tiffany Toribio has been arrested on charges of murder, child abuse resulting in death, tampering with evidence and negligent child abuse resulting in death or great bodily harm.
Toribio is suspected of being the mother of the young boy whose body was found buried in an Albuquerque park last week. The unidentified slain child quickly earned the designation "Baby Angel" as authorities attempted to locate his family and killer.
Tips to police led them to suspect the boy was Toribio's 3-year-old son, whose name was not released by Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz.
Schultz told the Journal a composite sketch of the slain boy was compared to a photograph of Toribio's son, who has not been seen since May 13, but a positive match was not determined.
"It's similar," Schultz said. "But not enough to make a positive comparison."
