RALEIGH, N.C., May 21 (UPI) -- North Carolina state police say the FBI picked up more records linked to former Gov. Mike Easley as a grand jury met to discuss a wide-ranging criminal probe.
There was no word on what evidence the grand jury may have heard Wednesday; however, The (Raleigh, N.C.) News Observer reported the box of confiscated papers included travel records.
A spokesman for Easley's security detail told the newspaper the records were to have been delivered to the federal building by Wednesday morning, but agents picked them up themselves Tuesday.
Easley's travels while in office have been part of an investigation that includes closed-door testimony this week from the head of his security unit and the chancellor of North Carolina State University.
