Man charged with bow hunting kangaroos

MELBOURNE, May 20 (UPI) -- An Australian man was charged Wednesday with shooting two kangaroos in a park in a suburb of Melbourne.

Police raided two houses and seized a computer and an arrow at the first and more arrows, two bows, a quiver, a paper target and a variety of camouflage garments at the second, the Melbourne Herald Sun reported.

The 27-year-old suspect was charged with recklessly endangering life, hunting protected animals and four counts of aggravated cruelty. He was ordered to appear in court June 25.

One kangaroo was discovered May 7 with an arrow in its rump, while the other was shot in the head. Both are expected to recover.
