ATHENS, Greece, May 20 (UPI) -- A toddler survived a Greek family tragedy when his father killed the wife and jumped with him and his brother off their apartment's balcony, Athens police said.
The 40-year-old southern Athens man stabbed to death his 26-year-old wife, embraced his sons, ages 2 and 3, and jumped off the fifth-floor balcony, killing himself and the younger boy.
Doctors in an Athens hospital said the 3-year-old boy suffered serious injuries Tuesday when the father and sons landed on the roof of an adjoining three-story building, the Kathimerini online newspaper reported Wednesday.
Police said the woman sustained multiple kitchen knife wounds in her neck.
The man left a note detailing the reasons behind the killings but police refused to reveal them.
