Two Serb minors detained in teen's killing

BELGRADE, Serbia, May 18 (UPI) -- Two teenage boys were detained on suspicion they beat to death a 13-year-old boy in a farm field near the Grebenac village in eastern Serbia, police said.

A judge of the Pancevo district court, 15 miles northeast of Belgrade, Monday interrogated the boys, aged 16 and 15, and ordered a 30-day detention to let a judge in charge of minors prepare the case, Belgrade's B92 Web site said.

No details about inquiries against minors can be revealed in the early stages of the Serbian legal process.

Pancevo police arrested the two minors Sunday at Grebenac, 45 miles east of Belgrade near the Serbia-Romania border. A villager found the disfigured body of the boy in a field and he was identified by his father from his hair and pants. He was apparently killed Saturday.

The two suspects did not deny they had committed the crime, police said.
