DETROIT, May 18 (UPI) -- Residents of a Detroit neighborhood harassed firefighters attempting to put out a recent fire at an alleged drug house, police say.
D'Andre Adams, who lives in the Detroit neighborhood where the fire took place, said those individuals who offered catcalls and jeers to firefighters Sunday were attempting to stop the fire from being extinguished, The Detroit News reported Monday.
"People just wanted it to burn to the ground," Adams said. "We all know it's a known drug house."
Andrae Tarrance, who lived in the home next to the suspected drug site, said the blaze came after concerned calls to authorities failed to prompt action.
"I've called police over and over that the house is a drug house, but no one did anything," Tarrance told the Detroit News.
Police said officers were called to the scene of the fire, whose cause has yet to be determined, by fire rescue crews. The alleged drug home was destroyed in the blaze, the Detroit News said.
