JACKSONVILLE, N.C., May 16 (UPI) -- DNA testing indicates a former U.S. Marine accused of killing a pregnant Marine in North Carolina was not the father of the unborn baby, a report says.
WITN-TV in Greenville, N.C., reported Friday it had obtained a report by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology that shows Cesar Laurean has been excluded as the father of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach's fetus.
Laurean, 22, who was a corporal before being kicked out of the Marines this week, is accused of raping Lauterbach, 20, who was eight-months pregnant, then killing her and burning her body in his backyard.
The two were both stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. She disappeared in December 2008 and her remains were found the next month.
Laurean fled to Mexico after allegedly killing Lauterbach. He was arrested there in April 2008.
