BANGKOK, May 15 (UPI) -- A Thai political pressure organization, United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, said Friday it is starting its own newspaper.
Former Sen. Wiboon Chaemcheun told The Bangkok Post the United Front newspaper, which will be titled The Red News, will focus on local and national politics and its role in Thai society.
The first issue of The Red News is expected to be released May 29 with an estimated print run of 50,000 copies.
Wiboon told the Post the newspaper, which will be published five days each week, will not be funded by members of Thailand's business industry.
"No businessmen are behind the funding of the newspaper," he said.
The Post said the Imperial World Lat Phrao department store will hold a fundraising dinner May 23 with the topic of discussion being the future of democracy.
