Man gets seven years in prison for rapes

LINKOPING, Sweden, May 15 (UPI) -- A court in the Swedish city of Linkoping has sentenced a 30-year-old man to seven years in prison for raping two 17-year-old girls, court documents say.

The unidentified man convicted and sentenced in Linkoping District Court had been accused of convincing the two teenage girls to ride in his car, only to then beat and repeatedly rape them, Tidningarnas Telegrambyra/The Local said.

"If everyone just obeys this will go fine. Follow my instructions and you will live," the convicted man said to his victims during the March incident.

A woman, identified as the man's girlfriend, was also assaulted during the incident. The condition of the three victims was not reported.

The district court ordered the man to pay his two teenage victims $56,000 in damages as a result of his conviction on charges of aggravated rape, assault, and unlawful deprivation of liberty.

Tidningarnas Telegrambyra/The Local said while the man was ordered to undergo psychiatric care in relation to a early 1990s assault case, the Linkoping court ruled he had no serious mental illnesses during the March incident.
