WASHINGTON, May 14 (UPI) -- The U.S. House of Representatives Thursday approved a nearly $97 billion war supplemental bill, officials said.

The Hill reported that the measure cleared the House on a 368-60 vote.

The newspaper noted that some anti-war Democrats and Republicans opposed the bill because of its cost.

The Hill said the spending bill lacks funding to close the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention facility in Cuba.

In addition to money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the spending measure includes money for the pandemic flu, the U.S. Capitol Police, wildfires and nuclear non-proliferation initiatives.

A $91.3 billion supplemental funding measure was approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee Thursday, The Hill reported.
