LONDON, May 13 (UPI) -- A 2-year-old boy was run down by a roller coaster carriage and killed when he got away from his parents at a London fun fair.

Erjon Hyseni was pronounced dead at a hospital Tuesday, The Daily Mail reported. Authorities say his death was the first fatal accident at a British fun fair or amusement park in nine years.

The death is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.

Erjon was at the fair on Duckett's Common in North London with his parents, Migena and Lulzim Hyseni. They told police he had been bouncing in a balloon castle when he wandered to the Go-Gator coaster next to it.

Witnesses said that the toddler either climbed over or got under a railing separating the Go-Gator and the castle.

"I think everyone heard the terrified screams of the mother of the little boy," said Dorothy Murphy, 88, who lives in the area. "She was in a very bad state. She was crying and screaming, I knew something awful had

happened. I couldn't make out words, just her panicked screams of terror."
