ATHENS, Greece, May 8 (UPI) -- Aid groups say they are prepared to help illegal immigrants living in squalid conditions in the Greek capital of Athens.
The Doctors of the World aid group, along with left-wing and migrant protection groups, have vowed to offer aid to immigrants living in run-down locations such as the old Athens appeals court building, Ekathimerini reported Friday.
Doctors of the World said in a statement Thursday it would set up a mobile unit at the former judicial site to offer help to immigrants squatting there.
The group said it will call for "concrete and realistic solutions that will guarantee a minimum level of decent shelter for those who need help."
Left-wing and migrant protection groups are also seeking to increase awareness of the problems facing illegal immigrants in Greece. To help drive home their point, the groups plan on using the old appeals court building for a sit-in protest on Saturday, Ekathimerini said.
