JERUSALEM, May 6 (UPI) -- The Palestinian militant group Hamas says it was responsible for firing three mortar shells from Gaza into Israel's Sha'ar Hanegev region Wednesday.

No casualties or damage were reported in the early morning attack.

Two Qassam rockets had struck open areas in the region early Saturday, also with no injuries or damage, The Jerusalem Post reported.

On Friday, the Israeli air force bombed smuggling tunnels along the Gaza-Egypt border in retaliation for an earlier rocket attack, the newspaper said.
