CHICAGO, May 5 (UPI) -- A 15-year-old accused of impersonating a Chicago police officer is charged with stealing a Lexus during a test drive at a car lot, juvenile prosecutors said.

The boy, dressed in a suit and tie, allegedly stole the used Lexus Friday by pretending he was in the market to buy a car, said Roderick Drew, a police spokesman.

In January, when he was 14, the same teen allegedly impersonated a Chicago police officer and was so convincing he was allowed to drive a squad car, the Chicago Tribune said Tuesday. Because he is a juvenile, his name has not been publicly released.

The teen, who has no driver's license, allegedly took the Lexus after the dealer stepped away for a moment and then drove it for three hours before being chased by police and crashing the car into a light pole, the Tribune reported. He was not injured.

The youth, who has been on electronic monitoring since February, is scheduled to appear in court May 28 for both the stolen car case and the officer impersonation case, police said.
