MEXICO CITY, May 4 (UPI) -- Mexico City's restaurants, boarding houses and other establishments closed during a nationwide swine flu scare can reopen this week, officials said.
The businesses may reopen Wednesday but some public venues, including libraries and museums, will stay closed until later in the week. El Universal newspaper reported.
In South America, where flu season is about to begin, health officials confirmed the first case of swine flu -- in Colombia.
Worldwide, the World Health Organization said it confirmed 985 cases of the H1N1 virus, known as swine flu, in 20 countries, CNN reported.
Mexico found itself in a row with China over a decision to quarantine more than 70 Mexican travelers in the country, including the Mexican consul in Guangzhou, ABC News said.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon called the measures unfair Calderon said Mexico has been up front with world officials but "some countries and places are taking repressive and discriminatory measures because of ignorance and disinformation."
Mexico's Foreign Relations Department said a plane would go to to several Chinese cities "where Mexicans have expressed their intention to return to Mexico."
China's Foreign Ministry denied it was discriminating against Mexicans.
