HENRICO, Va., May 2 (UPI) -- Police in Virginia are investigating alleged sexting by students at a middle school.

Administrators at Moody Middle School in Henrico found "several naked photos," including some on laptops supplied by the school, the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch reported Friday.

"It's an ongoing investigation, and we are expanding it to include other schools," Police Lt. Doug Perry said.

School officials say they are trying to educate students on the potential long-term consequences of sending salacious material by cell phone or computer.

"Schools are sharing information with students and with parents to raise awareness of the serious consequences of sexually explicit material that can be posted electronically and can follow a student indefinitely," Dale Theakston, spokeswoman for Hanover County schools, said.
