LULING, La., May 2 (UPI) -- Police in St. Charles Parish, La., say they have charged the mother of a murder suspect as an accessory after-the-fact.
St. Charles Sheriff's Office spokesman Pat Yoes said Margie A. Preston, 47, was arrested after she allegedly gave false statements to police regarding her 19-year-old son Dayshaun T. Preston, who was wanted for on murder charges, The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported Saturday.
Also arrested on an accessory-after-the-fact to second-degree murder charge was Dana M. Davis, 28, Yoes said.
"They both made false statements about being in contact with wanted suspects," the St. Charles official alleged.
The younger Preston was arrested April 16 for allegedly killing Jahman Bailey, 25, and wounding three others in a Christmas Eve shooting in Luling.
The Times-Picayune said police also have arrested Timothy Moll, 20, in the shootings.
