JERUSALEM, May 1 (UPI) -- Israel Defense Forces said a bombing strike Friday on two suspected smuggling tunnels along Egypt's Gaza Strip border was successful.

The military organization said Israeli air force aircraft managed direct hits on the targeted tunnels on the Philadelphi Route, but injury and damage details were not reported, Haaretz said.

The air strike on the tunnels was in response to a rocket attack on Israel's Negev region.

The rocket was fired from coastal territory Thursday and landed in an open field, causing no injuries or damage.
