BEIJING, April 30 (UPI) -- China has reopened its border with North Korea to tourists, officials said.
The border had been closed for three years amid rampant gambling by Chinese tourists, The China Post reported Thursday. The crossing opened with a group of 71 tourists visiting North Korea.
The Chinese tourists left the city of Dandong this week for a one-day tour of Sinuiju, which is across the border.
North Korea's border with China is the preferred route for North Koreans fleeing the reclusive communist regime, the newspaper said.
