CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 29 (UPI) -- A school bus rolled over on Interstate 77 Wednesday, injuring an estimated 20 students, officials in Charlotte, N.C., said.

There were approximately 50 students from an elementary school on the vehicle when it went over on its side for reasons that were unclear.

Fire Capt. Mark Basnight told the Charlotte Observer that none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, and that 10 of the students were treated at the scene.

The bus was one of three Cabarrus County district buses headed for an overnight field trip at Lake Wylie.

Traffic was snarled during the morning commute and parents were told not to try to drive to the accident scene.
