
COLLEGE PARK, Ga., April 28 (UPI) -- School officials said Tuesday they were investigating an incident in which a 6-year-old allegedly brought a loaded handgun to a Georgia elementary school.
Administrators at Heritage Elementary in College Park told WSB-TV, Atlanta, the kindergartner brought a "small handgun" to the school Monday, showing it to another student who reported the weapon.
Fulton County Sheriff's officials couldn't tell the broadcaster how many bullets were in the weapon, but they said they don't believe the child meant any harm. The youngster was reportedly taken to the principal's office and then sent home, where he was to remain until a school disciplinary tribunal can be held within 10 days.
School resource officers told WSB they were looking into how the child obtained the gun.
