SEOUL, April 26 (UPI) -- South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun faces questioning this week about his alleged role in a bribery scandal, an attorney said Sunday.
Attorney Moon Jae-in told the South Korean news agency Yonhap that Roh, now staying in his hometown near Busan, will appear Thursday in the headquarters of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to answer questions stemming from allegations he collected more than $6 million from an indicted businessman.
Roh will become the third South Korean former president to face prosecutors' summons, joining Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo -- both of whom were convicted of collecting illicit political funds, Yonhap said.
Roh has admitted his wife, Kwon Yang-sook, took money from industrialist Park Yeon-cha, who has been arrested on charges of offering kickbacks to Roh administration officials between 2003 and 2008.
Roh's son, Kun-ho, and in-law Yeon Chul-ho are also suspected of receiving about $5 million from Park under suspicious circumstances, the news agency said.
