OSTERVALA, Sweden, April 23 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden's Uppland province said more than 26 gallons of illegal moonshine were seized during a raid on a farm.

Investigators said the moonshine was being kept in various plastic containers when officers arrived Wednesday at the farm, which had been vacated before police got there, The Local reported Thursday.

The investigators, a group formed by local police forces in Uppland to handle drug crimes, said they confiscated equipment that was apparently being used to make another batch of moonshine.

"The group was set up to mostly target narcotics but we deemed this case relevant," Bertil Carlsson of the Tierp police said.

Carlsson said the man believed to have created the home distillery has not been arrested but police have called him in for questioning. Home distilling carries a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment under Swedish law.
