Restricted documents left on train

LONDON, April 21 (UPI) -- Britain's minister of culture Tuesday apologized for leaving a briefcase full of confidential documents on a train traveling from England to Scotland.

"What happened was unacceptable and I apologize unreservedly, said Andy Burnham, secretary of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

A passenger who found the case after Burnham departed the train in London turned it over to police in Glasgow, The Times of London reported.

The papers within were classified as "restricted" but did not contain sensitive information, said a department spokesman.

Burnham's security breach came days after Bob Quick, then Britain's top anti-terrorism officer, was photographed with a secret document detailing an operation to thwart an alleged al-Qaida plot.

Quick resigned his position after news photographers said details of the operation were clearly legible once the photograph was enlarged.
