Woman runs over children, kills son

MENDOTA, Calif., April 20 (UPI) -- A 5-year-old boy was killed in Central California after his mother accidentally ran over him and his sister, authorities said.

The Fresno (Calif.) Bee reported Monday the woman from Mendota, Calif., ran over her son and her 3-year-old daughter when she accidentally put her foot on the accelerator instead of the brake.

The incident took place Sunday, sheriff's officials said. The 3-year-old girl remains in critical condition, said a spokeswoman for Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
