NORFOLK, Va., April 19 (UPI) -- Several Jewish synagogues and other locations in Norfolk, Va., were vandalized with anti-Semitic and racial messages this weekend, police say.
Worshippers at the synagogues discovered the vandalism early Saturday morning. Police were investigating incidents in at least five locations in the city's Ghent neighborhood, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Sunday.
"There is an investigation under way and we don't have any suspects at this time," Karen Parker-Chesson, a police department spokeswoman, told the newspaper.
She said officials believe the vandalism was done to mark the April 20 birthday of Adolf Hitler.
Rabbi Michael Panitz of Norfolk's Temple Israel told the Virginian-Pilot that worshippers found small stickers bearing anti-Semitic messages pressed onto building's window panes.
