BOSTON, April 17 (UPI) -- The man suspected of killing a New York model in a botched robbery at a Boston hotel may have struck again, this time in Rhode Island, police said Friday.
A woman staying at a Holiday Inn Express in Warwick told police she was robbed at gunpoint Thursday, The New York Times reported. The description she gave police matched a man videotaped by security cameras at the Marriott Copley Place, where Julissa Brisman, 26, was shot dead Tuesday, and at the Westin Copley, where a woman was robbed and tied up last week.
The woman in Rhode Island told police the man began tying her up but left when her husband showed up.
"It's a very active investigation right now," said Boston police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll. "We are working closely with the Warwick authorities to determine whether or not there is a connection."
Brisman, who had appeared in music videos and commercials, and the woman robbed in Boston had both advertised massage services on Craigslist.
Craigslist Chief Executive Officer Jim Buckmaster said the company would cooperate with the investigation.
"There appears to be a psychopath on the loose in the Boston area, and we will of course do everything in our power to assist law enforcement in apprehending the perpetrator as soon as possible," Buckmaster said. "We are evaluating this incident to see if there are any additional things we could do to better protect Craigslist users."
