SYDNEY, April 15 (UPI) -- A 15-year-old boy in Australia whose family reported him missing was actually just on an extra-long, 10-day bike ride.
The (Queensland) Courier-Mail reported Wednesday that after a nationwide search, Ethan Johnson was found in Sydney, after being missing since March 30.
The newspaper said Johnson, who has a mild form of Asperger's Syndrome, has promised to forgo travel alone until he is at least 18 and will tell his mom if he is leaving town.
Johnson had ridden his black mountain bike more than 590 miles along the Pacific Motorway in six days.
The newspaper said he spent four days exploring Sydney's rail network. He reportedly slept under a bridge each night after watching DVDs of train journeys on his portable player.
Although the boy turned his cellular phone off so he couldn't be tracked, police were able to track his whereabouts vaguely through his frequent bank activity.
