OAK CREEK, Wis., April 15 (UPI) -- A criminal complaint alleges a 31-year-old man in Oak Creek, Wis., shot his mother three times after she refused to give him $2.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said Frederick W. Bertrang stands accused of first-degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon and second-degree recklessly endangering safety with a dangerous weapon in relation to an alleged attack on his mother and his brother's girlfriend.

Authorities allege Bertrang attacked his mother, Patricia, last Thursday after she refused to give him $2 for a bar's cover charge.

Bertrang allegedly slashed one of his mother's hands and stabbed his brother Michael's girlfriend, Jessica Brandt, in the leg while she was attempting to call 911.

Authorities allege Bertrang then retrieved an AK-47 assault rifle from his basement and shot his mother three times in the leg.

The medical condition of the two women was not reported.

The Journal Sentinel said Bertrang is facing up to 45 years in prison if convicted on both charges.
