GUANGZHOU, China, April 15 (UPI) -- Sixteen people were arrested in Guangzhou, China, suspected in a recent melee at the Guangzhou World Panorama theme park, police said.

Police said the suspects were arrested in Shenzhen, Huizhou and Chaozhou between Saturday Tuesday, the China Daily reported. More arrests were expected.

Police said a mob of about 40 people armed with handguns, shotguns, iron bars, broadswords and harpoons went on a rampage, vandalizing the theme park April 7. At least six guards were injured, the Daily reported.

The violence stemmed from disputes over contracts, power supply and dormitory space at the venue dating back to 2005, the newspaper said.
