CALGARY, Alberta, April 13 (UPI) -- A 27-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a Canadian toddler initially thought to have drowned accidentally, police said Monday.
Kadima Pierre Kalala, 27, who lived in the same home with 2-year-old Jaden Tshimanga but wasn't related to him, was arrested Thursday, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Paramedics called to the Calgary residence March 9 found Jaden in cardiac arrest in a bathtub. While it at first appeared to be a drowning accident, an autopsy determined he died of blunt force trauma, police said.
