40 buildings burn at N.H. Christian center

ALTON BAY, N.H., April 12 (UPI) -- At least 40 homes were destroyed Sunday when a fire raced through the grounds of a Christian facility in New Hampshire, authorities said.

The fire at the Christian Conference Center had grown to 11 alarms by 8:15 p.m. EDT, State Fire Marshal Bill Degnan told WMUR-TV. Degnan said at least one firefighter was injured.

Fire officials told the TV station they believe the buildings are seasonal homes. There was no immediate word on whether any of them were occupied when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire had not been determined.
