DALLAS, April 11 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President George W. Bush is enjoying a simpler life in Dallas and doesn't dwell on his eight years in the White House, his friends and aides say.
"Since the moment he got back home, you can see that he is a much more relaxed, lighthearted person," said Jim Francis, one of Bush's best friends.
Bush left Washington Jan. 20 with two-thirds of Americans disapproving of his job performance. Since then, he has found peace and quiet by moving to a conservative Dallas neighborhood that voted overwhelmingly for him in both his presidential elections, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.
Bush divides his time between his ranch in Crawford and his home in Dallas, where he is writing a book about his time in office and concentrates on raising money for his presidential library. He has told friends he feels content about his presidency, regrets little and will not criticize his successor, Barack Obama.
"He's secure in the place he's in," said senior aide Dan Bartlett. "He's confident in the decisions he made. There's none of that 'Shoulda, woulda, coulda.'"
