JAKARTA, April 8 (UPI) -- Three Islamic militants have been convicted by an Indonesian court of planning acts of terrorism and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The three convicted terrorists are Sugiarto, alias Sugicheng; Agustiawarman, alias Bukhori; and Heri Purwanto, alias Abu Hurairoh. A presiding South Jakarta District Court judge said Tuesday they were all "legally and convincingly" proven guilty of conspiring to perpetrate acts of terror in Indonesia, The Jakarta Post reported.

Judge Aswan Nurcahyo said the trio were involved in an "evil conspiracy" to bomb the Bedudal Cafe in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra.

Prosecutors said the men were part of a 10-member cell of the Jamaah Islamiyah terror network. The Post said they were arrested last July in Palembang, South Sumatra, by a special police anti-terror unit.
